The George Sim Community Center is a vibrant cultural, recreational, educational and social resource for residents of all ages. Completed in 2009, the project consisted of a new one-story wood framed community center building as well as the interior renovation of an existing one-story wood framed building. The project also included a 15,670-gsf gymnasium constructed of masonry, steel and wood framing.
The $18 million center incorporates a broad range of green building strategies, including abundant daylighting, use of recycled and renewable materials, water-conserving plumbing fixtures, and a highly efficient mechanical system that relies entirely on outdoor air on temperate days. The facility is certified LEED Silver.
