The project consists of 24 one and two-story free-standing buildings that comprise approximately 282,000-gsf of a lifestyle center. The buildings are light steel framed structures with light metal framed walls. Lateral force resisting systems consist of steel moment trusses and/or braced frames. In addition, KPFF also designed the structures and foundations for the trolley stop, trellis, kiosk, canopies, awnings, trash enclosure and free-standing signs located around the project site. One unique building structure associated with the site is the Food Pavilion, a large free standing open air exposed steel structure. The structure’s footprint is approximately 60’ in width by 120’ in length and achieves a height of 30’ along its ridge line. Designed as a public gathering place the Food Pavilion utilized exposed structural steel arched trusses, roof purlins and columns. Different structural steel shapes for the trusses, frames and columns create an appealing and welcoming mood for shoppers.
