Daan Dommels PE, DBIA, PMP

Daan Dommels is the Managing Principal of KPFF’s Civil + Survey team, leading offices in Portland, Eugene, and Washington, D.C. With a blend of enthusiasm and strategic thinking, he strengthens our culture of connection, optimism, and shared success.

Daan was born and raised in the Netherlands and earned a master’s degree in civil engineering and management before moving to the United States in 2007. Shortly after arriving, he joined KPFF’s Portland office as a Civil Engineer, later became a Project Manager, Associate, and Principal of the firm, and was promoted to Managing Principal in May 2026.

Over the years, Daan has developed design expertise in site development for energy campuses and United States Embassies through the Department of State’s Overseas Building Operations. His work has taken him around the world, from inspections in Mongolia to contractor coordination in Vietnam, and he has contributed to more than thirty OBO projects that often required accelerated schedules and highly collaborative delivery.

As a DBIA Professional, Daan has spent decades working within design‑build, progressive design‑build, CM/GC, and other alternative delivery environments, strengthening teams through his technical insight and collaborative approach.
