KPFF provided planning and design services for expansion of Tacoma Rail’s East End Locomotive Facility to double the capacity of locomotive servicing. Upgrades included: addition of new locomotive fueling, sanding, and lubricant service systems; new two track service island; 40,000 fuel receiving and storage system; storage building for oils and lubricants; compressed air system; and potable water service system.
Upon completion of the improvements, Tacoma Rail will have the ability to provide locomotive servicing on a contract basis to two Class I railroads using independent systems for fuel, lubricants and sand.
