Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission – Rocky Reach Trail Extension Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission – Rocky Reach Trail Extension

KPFF provided civil engineering, structural engineering, and construction administration for a nearly five-mile riverfront trail extension on the Columbia River between Wenatchee and Rocky Reach Dam. The project included design for a three-sided box culvert and two prefabricated pedestrian bridges along a 10-foot-wide asphalt paved trail with interpretive exhibits highlighting Native American History and explaining fruit growing heritage of the corridor. Weathering steel trusses were selected as the preferred bridge type as they are very economical in both their initial and long-term maintenance costs. KPFF conducted a pre-construction conference, assisted in the award and execution of the Contract, coordinated construction, and participated in on-site inspections to observe work. Our construction administration duties included coordinating construction inspection services, including Special Inspections required for constructing the two bridges as well as geotechnical inspection and reporting.
