KPFF provided structural engineering for this new 31-story mixed-use tower in Seattle’s South Lake Union. It includes 338 residential units, a 4-story podium featuring 5,000 SF of retail space, and 122 below-grade stalls in a 3-story parking garage. The streamlined tower structure is inspired by clouds, and features straight columns with cantilevering flat slabs. It used performance-based seismic design to exceed the building code’s height limit for concrete shear walls.
