Port of Seattle – Terminal 46 Lease Improvements

Since 2013, KPFF has served as the prime project managers and marine civil/structural engineers for tasks providing planning, design and construction oversight for a wide range of lease improvements for this 80-acre terminal. This facility-wide on-call contract has included individual task orders that included a wharf crane rail extension/upgrade taken to 90% design, industrial storm water upgrades, outfall/subsidence repairs, site survey, pavement assessment and repair, electrical service coordination with SCL, and extensive under dock repairs. In 2017, KPFF assisted Port of Seattle staff in developing contract documents for repairs of concrete pile caps and deck panels for the bulk of Terminal 46. The development of the contract documents utilized inspection data collected by Port staff, with KPFF augmenting Port staff in the development of the drawings and specifications. During construction, KPFF provided project baseline and monthly schedule update analysis utilizing Primavera P6, to track contractor progress and verify that the project construction was on track. In 2018, the Port elected to add repairs to the north end of the terminal as a change order to the Contractor’s current contract and KPFF performed on site CSS services for that task. Subsequently, KPFF has provided design for the upcoming construction of pile cap repairs at the far north end of T46 which includes stormwater upgrades. Furthermore, KPFF performed a condition assessment and concept study of the bulkhead wall at the north end of the facility in 2019.
