KPFF provided structural engineering services for the design of a student housing project at Chapman University in Orange, California. The student housing includes 125 units (300 beds) of student dormitory housing units. The project is constructed as 3- and 4-story Type V, 1-Hour wood construction over 1 level of above grade Type I concrete parking garage for 156 automobiles. A portion of the garage level is occupied by retail/multipurpose tenant. A portion of the podium level accommodates a one-story, approximately 20,780-SF dining hall with a portion of two-story area for second floor conference areas of approximately 17,840gsf.
