This Design-Build project for the University of California, Davis consisted of providing structural design services for the design of seven wood framed, four-story dormitory buildings. Each building is themed by showcasing an exterior glass etching of various trees, which is meant to reflect the efforts these buildings and their design make to have a minimal effect on the environment. Sustainable in design, these buildings exceed state standards when it comes to energy efficiency and water use. Other sustainable features include the creative use of natural light and sustainable landscaping. The project achieved the desired LEED-NC Platinum rating.
