Background

Andy’s specialties include design of advanced seismic protection systems such as seismic isolation and seismic damping, and measurement, analysis, and design for floor vibrations. He is also a specialist in seismic design of reinforced concrete structures. His professional experience spans 32 years of structural engineering research and practice, including seven years with the Building and Fire Research Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Andy is a current and past member of numerous technical committees at the local and national level. He is currently Chair of the American Concrete Institute 318 Building Code committee, which will complete the next edition of the U.S. national concrete building code in 2025.
