KPFF's Relationship with ACE Results in an ENR Award

pm-portraits-032.jpgLianne Bell, S.E., recently was recognized as a 2016 ENR – ACE Outstanding Mentor by Engineering News-Record (ENR). This award went to only six exceptional mentors nationwide, selected by a jury of 2015 Outstanding Mentor award winners. ENR notes that “their contributions to students, fellow mentors, and affiliates epitomize the dedication and effectiveness of ACE’s nearly 2,500 mentors.”

Lianne has served as a San Diego affiliate of ACE Mentorship over the past decade and has mentored more than 300 students. These students have collectively earned $200,000 in ACE scholarships. Several of her former students now mentor for ACE. For eight years, Lianne has led a team at a local school, and five of the fellow mentors have remained on her team for six years. Lianne has recruited many new mentors as well. Lianne involves mentors in a preliminary planning session at the beginning of each year and regularly incorporates improvements into the curriculum. She has organized many exciting and unusual field trips for the students.

KPFF Consulting Engineers supports the ACE Mentorship program firm-wide and has over a dozen individuals serving as mentors in many cities throughout California, Oregon, and Washington, as well as one individual that serves on the Los Angeles Region Scholarship Committee for ACE.
