The Prow

KPFF provided structural and civil engineering for this “biophilic retreat” for Expedia’s staff members and executives, located on the company’s 40-acre waterfront corporate campus. The single-story meeting facility features an angular layout that is nestled into the sloping site. The walls are constructed from a combination of wood, glass, and stone. The roof is elongated and covered with vegetation, giving it the appearance of a wing or prow when viewed from the south-facing waterfront. When viewed from the north, the roof appears to blend in with the surrounding grassy landscape.
