Thriving in the team environment, Jim believes solving complicated design challenges is best done through collaboration. His design knowledge, friendly character and dedication to building strong relationships have earned him repeat client business. He has a diverse portfolio from projects spread throughout the country, including the Detroit Metro Airport Westin Hotel. For this project, Jim delivered intricate structural solutions such as a curved steel roof, numerous post tensioned cantilevered slabs, long-span concrete beams below an open atrium to accommodate a ballroom and two steel bridges that connect directly into the airport. Integrating these complex systems into one cohesive design exemplify Jim's technical acumen. Jim joined KPFF in 1996.
