The Gibson

The Gibson is a five-story, mixed-use building in the heart of the Old Boise Historic District. The 94,000 square foot building includes 2,700 square feet of retail space and 81 apartments ranging from studios to one- or two-bedroom units to townhomes. The facility includes a variety of amenities including a common living room area, a protected outdoor patio with a kitchen and firepit, a bocce ball court, a pet-friendly grooming area and dog run, a bike storage area with space for repair and cleaning, and great views of the city and surrounding foothills. The Gibson is built over a post-tension concrete podium deck. There is one level of parking below the structure that includes 66 parking spaces. Design for the building factored in the local context, reorienting to create a small public park and allowing visibility for the historic Davies Reid Building, designed by John C. Paulsen in 1892. The structure was divided into four sections to fit in with the density of the surrounding area where most buildings have a footprint of less than 10% of the block. These elements help the building integrate seamlessly with its surrounding neighborhood.
