KPFF is providing structural engineering services for the new construction two-story academic building which will have 11 classrooms, 8 offices, a spacious conference space, 4,500SF teaching laboratory and support spaces for lab prep, autoclaves, microscopy, etc.
The low-slung brick masonry and metal wall panel building will feature vertical screen walls over glazing in the public areas. The superstructure will be steel framed with composite steel floor systems, and steel roof joists at the roof. The hybrid lateral force resisting system will consist of moment frames with CMU core walls at the stairs. The roof system has been designed to support a massive 10,000SF of greenspace.
