10th Ave Bridge

KPFF provided structural and civil engineering services for a new vehicular bridge spanning over Whipple Creek and canyon in central Clark County. KPFF was initially brought on board this active bridge project to provide design services for a complicated drainage outfall into Whipple Creek. Concerns regarding energy dissipation and erosion were addressed in particular.  KPFF’s role was then increased to include the routing and design of multiple exposed utility lines including 24” water, 18” storm and both gravity and force-main sanitary lines under the bridge. The 450-foot-long 3-span steel plate girder structure was designed to clear span over ordinary high water to avoid impacting the site’s most sensitive natural resources. KPFF also performed the design of all bridge and suspended utilities and a large stormwater energy dissipator structure.
