University of Oregon
KPFF provided structural and civil engineering services for the Sports Performance Lab and Equipment Center addition to the Casanova Athletic Center at the University of Oregon. The project consisted of the renovation of 20,000 GSF of the existing building ground floor and the addition of 10,000 GSF of mezzanines for a total of 30,000 GSF of finished floor space. The new mezzanine structure is designed to be supported by, but not braced by the existing building structure so that appreciable seismic forces were not added to the existing building. New high density storage shelves were included in the renovation, requiring strengthening of the existing slab-on-grade to support the new storage loads.
