The new split level, seven floor, $269 million structure, will encompass 192,600 asf (359,000 gsf) on UC San Diego's La Jolla Health System Campus.  The design integrates the building into the natural topography of the canyon, includes diversity of angles which create open, light-filled interior spaces enabling the occupants to connect with the outdoor environment from various vantage points within the structure.  The floors are arranged in a five sided polygon enclosing two terraces. Designed for LEED Gold certification.
The building will accommodate 52,000 ASF of research and core laboratories; 66,000 ASF of dry research space; a large animal vivarium, multiple conference rooms and a large lecture hall; offices for CTRI administration and the SCVC; and other facilities.
