The project consists of an approximately 72,000 gross square feet 3-story new athletics facility adjacent to the Spaulding Field in the central zone of the UCLA campus. The new facility is intended to support UCLA’s football program and includes coach’s offices, strength and weight training/hydrotherapy space, lounge space, locker rooms, film viewing rooms, and other support spaces. In addition to the site and utility designs to make the new facility operational, the civil scope includes the transformation of the Acosta South Plaza, the integration of a new loading dock and service access to the existing Pauley Pavilion service tunnel. Limited existing sewer infrastructure capacity and recurring drainage issues in this part of the UCLA campus require the design of sewer and storm infrastructure upgrades including a very large storm water detention and infiltration system. The project is being designed to comply with the University of California Policy on Sustainable practices and achieve a minimum of a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Rating.
