Completed in 1842, the Tariff Building served as the headquarters for the US Post Office Department and was listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1969. In 2000, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in partnership with the General Services Administration converted this 170 year old National Historic Landmark into a new 180-room luxury hotel known as the Hotel Monaco.

The Dirty Habit DC restaurant expansion includes the design of a new single-story, 1,150-sf glass pavilion within the courtyard. The new dining room sits atop an existing plinth which is situated on an existing podium structure over subterranean support space.
