KPFF is providing civil engineering services to support the design and construction of the Circa project in Downtown Los Angeles. This project consists of two 35-story buildings featuring retail, amenities, and 648 luxury apartments on a 2.7 acre site.

The two towers rise above an eight-story, two-acre podium, capped with an amenity deck, that includes a round lounge pool with private cabanas, a sun deck and multiple barbecue stations with private open-air dining areas, two dog parks, a fitness building equipped with a lap pool, and indoor and outdoor Pilates/yoga facilities.

The development’s unique LID system was designed and coordinated by KPFF for collection and conveyance of storm water runoff from the building. The system consists of a CDS unit for pretreatment, a cast-in-place concrete tank for detention, and a drywell for infiltration. The LID components are vertically stacked and located within the building footprint.

Approximately 48,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space lines the project's ground-level, fronting Figueroa, 12th Street, and Flower Street. The off-site improvements, which consist of new curb, gutter, and sidewalk around the entire property frontage, were designed and coordinated in accordance with the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment District (LASED) guidelines.
