    Background

Jeff Asher has been responsible for the structural design of a large number of major building projects, including hospitals, schools, commercial buildings, residential projects, and specialty areas such as construction shoring and project management. He has been actively involved in the development and application of earthquake resistant design approaches, and he has published a number of technical papers on seismic design and analysis, as well as reinforced masonry design and construction.

Jeff began at KPFF in 1986 and has since been responsible for the structural design of over 250 major projects, which includes experience with all types of building types, sizes, configurations, construction materials and delivery methods. In addition to his day-to-day professional practice activities and management responsibilities, Jeff is responsible for the management and resolution of all professional liability issues and claims which involve KPFF. He has significant experience in construction claims dispute resolution for matters involving complicated technical and administrative issues relating to both civil and structural engineering design, and is actively involved in education and industry activities relating to professional liability/insurance issues for the structural engineering profession.

Building on that significant experience in dealing with a wide array of professional liability matters, Mr. Asher is the primary point of contact for the Forensic Services area of KPFF’s professional practice. He functions as an independent Forensic Consultant and Expert Witness on specific outside matters, provides a variety of Litigation Support services to Clients, and is in charge of existing facility investigations, studies, and building retrofit/repair activities related to this Service area for KPFF. Additionally, he functions as KPFF’s in-house Risk Manager, and has served in that capacity since 2001.
