Background

Reid has focused his career on the seismic design and rehabilitation of buildings and bridges in regions of high seismicity. He seeks to maximize value by utilizing emerging techniques and innovative technologies, such as performance-based design, nonlinear response history analysis, seismic isolation, energy dissipation, mass timber, and re-centering systems. Before joining KPFF Portland in 2013, Reid worked in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since then, he has been instrumental in nurturing KPFF's performance-based design and advanced analysis capabilities and leads in-house applied research projects (e.g., project specific experimental testing in collaboration with universities). He is an active member of the code development committees for ASCE 7 and ASCE 41 and has been published in Earthquake Spectra and Structure Magazine.
