Jorge joined KPFF in 2009 with a significant background in high-rise buildings. Jorge has expanded his technical skills in projects of all types including Education, Retail, Healthcare, Corporate, Hospitality and Residential. He enjoys complex and challenging projects including the San Gabriel River Discover Center, a 16,000-sf building located within an approximately 9 acre area of the Whittier Narrows Nature Center.  The project incorporates cutting edge sustainable design, including the use of rammed earth walls, a green roof, and a nocturnal water circulation system on the roof. Jorge has acquired extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of the seismic design and analysis of new and existing building structures over the years. His curiosity and zeal for all things structural has afforded him a unique skill set derived from the marrying of his professional and academic experiences. Jorge is involved in a wide array of technical activities ranging from concept designs to intricate detailing, staff training, client interaction and project management. Additionally, Jorge is an active contributor to KPFF’s research and development group where he currently leads a team in the advancement of earthquake-resistant self-centering concrete flanged wall systems for use in high-rise buildings.
