Confident that a great engineering solution exists for every architectural design, Bassam approaches each project as a responsive team player and places emphasis on innovation and integrity. Since joining KPFF in 1996, Bassam has been involved in many of KPFF’s volunteer projects: for Portland State University’s Dryden Drop Tower, Bassam helped design a 100-foot-high steel zero-gravity drop tower inside the Engineering building lobby to aid in scientific research. A love of learning defines his professional nature and drives solutions to challenging projects such as the 16-story Casey Condominiums in Portland’s Pearl District. As the first LEED Platinum condominium project in the U.S., the Casey’s constrained urban site inspired an up/down construction process - the superstructure was built simultaneously with four levels of below-grade parking.
