KPFF has recognized that there are specialized issues associated with development of some projects, which require unique management and technical skills. The KPFF Special Projects Division was established in 1996 to directly address these types of projects with a unique combination of focused dedication to successful delivery via specialized project managers, a highly qualified technical staff, and a predisposition to think and act innovatively. We provide civil, structural, and mechanical engineering, machinery design, construction management, project management, and planning services on a wide range of project types. Special Projects has offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Long Beach (CA) with a total of 100+ people.
The Work We Do
Our Seattle Special Projects office was established in 1996 and is located in downtown Seattle in Westlake Center overlooking Elliot Bay.
Our work generally consists of the management and design of heavy civil, structural, industrial, and waterfront infrastructure throughout the US. We are frequently tasked with solving unusual, multi-discipline challenges that require an innovative and team-oriented approach, working with clients including the Ports of Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, WSDOT, Shipyards, Contractors and various municipalities.
I grew up in the Seattle area and later moved to N. Carolina where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina A&T -Aggie Pride! I am a married father of three and enjoy reading and staying active both inside and outside. I am excited to return to the Pacific Northwest from the East Coast as I miss Seattle's coffee. Being an engineer allows me to continuously learn and grow. I value being self-motivated, working in diverse teams, and having a clear sense of purpose.
I'm originally from Long Island, NY, but moved to WA in 2017 to pursue a career in education. I received my BA in English from Alfred University, and my Master's in Education from the University of Washington. After 4 years of teaching 6th grade math and science, I decided to dig into my new toolbox of skills and branch out into the corporate world. I am so excited to be working as a Project Coordinator with KPFF. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my Rottweiler Lexi, cooking and hiking.
I was born and raised in Guangzhou, China prior to moving to Lynnwood, WA just before high school. After that, I got a BS in civil engineering from University of Washington. Lately I've been spending my free time aerial dancing and learning circus arts, and dabbling in longboarding and roller skating. I like cities, public transportation, wildlife, rain forest, and salmon (to eat and to design passage for)!

Ross is passionate about infrastructure and its positive impacts on society and culture, and has participated in Engineers Without Borders projects in Nicaragua and Kenya, as well as a UW program in India. He is an avid cyclist, enjoys traveling, watching sports, and every PNW outdoor activity
