History

KPFF was founded by Albert Kelly in Seattle in 1960. Albert Kelly and Associates became Kelly, Pittelko, Fritz, and Forssen, then was renamed KPFF in 1976.

Mission

KPFF is committed to consistent, prudent growth while maintaining a leadership role in our industry. To facilitate this growth, the firm is committed to helping employees develop their technical and managerial capabilities.

KPFF aims to maintain the highest standards while fostering technical innovation and creativity to produce a consistent, thorough product.

Philosophy

KPFF has experienced an outstanding record of continued growth by providing quality design and service to our clients. The growth and reputation of our firm are the direct outcome of individual efforts and close cooperation by all our employees. Our future success depends upon the continuation of these efforts and adherence to the highest professional standards and ideals.

Founder Al Kelly believed that engineers should be able to practice with a minimum of organizational restriction. He felt this would allow each engineer to work directly and independently with his or her clients while drawing upon the experience and resources of all other professionals in the firm. KPFF still subscribes to this ideal. At KPFF, we believe that each employee is motivated to do his or her best.

We strive to be an organization with a minimum number of organizational levels, giving the decision-making responsibility to those closest to the issues. Based on this philosophy, employees experience the opportunity for growth that is based on their own competency, attitude, and commitment. Personal satisfaction is achieved through a sense of accomplishment and a job well done.

At KPFF, we believe that employees prefer to cooperate as part of the team. Consequently, we encourage open communication in all aspects of our profession and business. We strive to continually increase employee involvement by allowing every employee to truly be a part of the development of each project.
